Both the guys I know still using the hotspot leave it running 24/7. One had to replace his after a couple years, but he has a lot of electrical issues from lightning. The other guy hasn't had to touch it in five years.

Why would you add oil? There is a level to maintain. You change the oil and refill it to the proper level. If it has a slow leak, you check it periodically and keep it filled to the proper level until you fix the leak. Pumps don't use oil and it doesn't evaporate.
