Are you going to the Car Wash Show?

No, I am not. I go to Kleen Rite's when it's in PA, and that's it. I should do more, admittedly.

Icy, Dangerous free vac parking area.

I agree. Most people aren't going to vacuum during freezing weather.

Question: How have self serve customers changed over the years?

Outside of the increase in credit card usage, I can't say I see any other tangible differences. I'm of the opinion that the public sucks and has sucked constantly during my lifetime. Car clubs brought with them different jerky things. Online reviews allowed jerks in general to go the keyboard...

    Self-service wax setup

Our waxes are cold. We have Lemon Glo coming out of the main gun. One of our washes has triple foam wax coming out of a separate gun. Lemon Glo is high pressure. The triple foam I would describe as low pressure.

    Wash Bay pricing

That's what I find, too. Most people who come onto the lot figure they're going to spend the minimum, although they end up spending more. Let's say I had a customer who spends $7 at the self-serve. If I were to hypothetically switch the pricing to $5 for unlimited time, they wouldn't like it...

    Wash Bay pricing

When inflation started picking up earlier in the year, we went from $3 for 3:40 to $3 for 3:12. Now is definitely the time to raise prices. When we raised our membership for the start of the year, that was the least complaining we had ever received. People get it. Finally.

    Discounts Based on Payment Methods

I look at a cashless society as being part of something bigger: automation. Automation means brick and mortar businesses and less workers out on the roadways. That's not good for our industry.

How many additional accounts did they open for you?:)

    Discounts Based on Payment Methods

And also, our merchant processing can control us even more. One of the things I've noticed is the lamenting of how our subscription services and equipment are limited to a particular merchant processor. It sucks. Who here like Worldpay for Cyrptopay?

    Increasing Memberships + Rewards Programs

Your system might have a loyalty program on it. I'd check into that first. If not, the gift card method would work. I know the Sierra Server system under Unitech has the capability. It can be done through cards, RFID stickers or codes. We don't do it because the customers have wanted the...

    Customer service

They're just caught up in the moment and not thinking that at some point, there will be a lean time. So many places take for granted the customers will always be there at their convenience.

Poll: We are completely cashless at our car wash

Those who want a cashless car wash do so because they look at being cashless as more convenient, theft and safer. Do I believe that? In my case, no. I've spent way more time dealing with credit/debit card matters than I have with cash-related matters. I've dealt with far more card outages than...

    Another business besides the carwash?

We used to have gas as well and at different points a convenience store and snack shop.

    Do You Post Political Signs?

With the election season having heated up, I was wondering how many of you post political signage on your properties. Besides campaign signs, what comes to my mind as well is posting signage related to referendums. We've posted political signage. Most of them are friends whose political beliefs...

I'm so happy for you. Nothing makes my heart dropper faster than a fellow car wash person being down when it's going to be busy.

Coin/Token/Cash less (no cash at bay/vacuum) System?

I myself am not familiar with that system. If somebody doesn't have an answer for you here, I suppose you can investigate it through the laundromat route.

    Touch Free Self Service???

If a self-serve customer doesn't want to use a foam brush, they'll simply use high pressure soap. Even if there was a replacement for the foam brush, I don't believe the emboldened will change. Lazy customers want automatics. I don't believe it would sway ladies. Picky customers would use...
