    night life n vegas

I am a fan of the small comedy clubs. The Comedy Shop at the Tropicana has always been a good one. Several others are around. I think Ballys has one. I tried keeping up with Randy one year but he parties harder than I do.

Your Thoughts On City Complaints of Sand

First thing I would do is sample your grease traps yourself. Sand tends to be heavier than regular dirt and almost always stays in the first pit. The sediment that ends up in the grease traps is generally very fine dirt, much lighter than sand. Get a scoop of the grease trap dirt and dry it then...

    Water facts

Try the Western car washh association or the International car wash association websites. WCA used to have a great poster that showed the average water use of all different types of washes.

Your average number of washes per day/month

I agree that the magazines will overstate numbers based on sampling size and the fact that those who send the surveys in are usually the better operators and the ones doing well. The ICA paid studies may be more reliable but none have been done in our current economic state so it is of little...

Your average number of washes per day/month

If you check out some of the various car wash magazines that do yearly surveys I think their averages are about 1500 automatic washes per month per bay. I think the last ICA study was also around 1500 per month. 2000 cars per month per bay is a pretty good IBA. SS bays average around $1200 to...

    Pit Mud Agitator

My ringomatic came with a long metal tube and some hose that hooks onto the exhaust for the gas engine. You plunge the metal tube into the muck and it aerates the mud for easier pickup and it costs nothing.

    Help with water containment

You also posted about water containment. In Clark County you will have to a have a water recycling system in place for any kind of car wash. That cost alone will be ten of thousands of dollars for a system that will meet requirements.

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

I was in Lowes and they had 4 foot T8 twin bulb waterproof fixtures for $54 each. They are not as good as T5 HO but are still more efficient than CFLs. This is a pretty good price from what I have seen.

    Fleck 2900s Water Softener

Did you fill the salt tank with water when you installed the system? This is needed so that when the first regeneration cycle comes there is something in the tank for the softner to draw out. Then it refills the salt tank after a flush so the water is ready for the next regeneration. If no water...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Pat, I agree with everything you said. I was just pointing out that if your utility has a program they may pay all the costs for an upgrade with no out of pocket money needing to be spent. I installed all of my T5 lights myself in about 30 minutes each. My hubbell MH fixtures were not worth...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Each CFL has the ballast built into the bulb which is why they have a higher cost. I was thinking of the sealed water tight T5 HO fixtures. I have had no problem with these in the 2 years I have been using them and have not replaced one single bulb or ballast. I also have a lot of 42 watt CFLs...

    Similar industry evolution

I was trying to think of other industries that have gone through similar evolutions like car washes. One that came to mind is movie theatres.
