Help with Issue on D&S Super 5000 Soap Application

It depends on where the water comes from. If you disconnect the outlet and water doesn't flow out pretty fast just under gravity, it may not fully prime just by running it. I usually have to leave the outlet disconnected and pulse it on for a second at a time, usually four or five times...

Chasing gremlins, need your thoughts please.

Correct. It may not be the switch, confirming power out from the selection while the selection isn't working will prove that. You could have a check valve intermittently sticking closed, or possibly not closing and letting pressure back, but the latter would cause all the bays to not work on...

    32 degree nozzles

It won't cut concrete by rinsing the floor, in fact it won't ever harm it because they lose most of the impact more than 6" from the tip. But if you hold it 1" from a spot it will damage it eventually. A MEG tip is also more likely to get under a chip in the paint and lift it off.

Chasing gremlins, need your thoughts please.

Sounds like a bad rotary switch. Shallco will wear out in a year. Is there much play in the switch?

New Technology at Southwest Car Assoc Expo - Thoughts?

You can do all this with PLCs and various bits of off-the-shelf hardware for practically nothing and program in an email to notify you for free.

    Lock stuck in paystation

Locksmiths tell you not to use WD-40. I say tell me of something that works better in a car wash environment. They never have an answer.

    Selling the wash

They probably want to make sure the wash wasn't built on top of an old service station with fuel tanks left underground, or something like that. I wouldn't blame them, but yeah they can't just request a study and expect him to pay for it. If it were me, I'd request the study and pay for it and...

    Lock stuck in paystation

Could be some grit caught in it. WD-40 and lots of wiggling usually does it. Don't force it. I used to service a wash with Hamilton CC reader boxes in the bays and they'd get stuck after not being opened for years. Sometimes rapping on the key with a plastic screwdriver handle was needed to...

size of water line to run 3 or 4 self serve bays

A 1" line should be plenty for a 6-bay wash with that pressure, but if that's just the static pressure and it drops with demand it could easily be too little. You'll need to put a gauge somewhere to see how bad the pressure drop is.

    32 degree nozzles

The nozzle they call "perfect" is a Spraying Systems MEG tip. I don't recommend anyone use them for bays. They are meant for descaling and can cut concrete. FWIW I use General Pump 2506 tips which have the same spray pattern as Spraying Systems V-spray tips, but they have a hardened insert...

    Jim Coleman Self Serve Issue

There should be no way for the high pressure pump to run and nothing gets to the gun. I would look for a check valve somewhere near the boom, or maybe a bad section of hose. It could also be a coincidental problem of several check valve failures at once. Next time this happens, take one of...

    Jim Coleman Self Serve Issue

Check the gauges on the low-pressure solenoid blocks. You could have a bad check valve letting high pressure back and preventing the solenoids from opening.

    Foam Brush Hose

The tool needed for those fittings run $2,000 and up. The one Twodose pictured is more like $5,000. Even if you could crimp it, you don't want to use a swivel fitting like that. It's intended for installation of the hose and will not last as a working swivel. If you ordered the ferrule...

    Lost $ In Changer ??

I've seen both Hamilton and Mars acceptors "steal" a bill into the stacker without it cycling or paying out and the changer will continue to work. I have a camera aimed at the changer, and I check the bills against the payout counters. Before I started tracking the bills vs payout, I would...

How do i fix this leak? laswerwash 4000

It's the pump. Since the unit is in the bay, it's damp all the time, and the C-clip that holds the cap on has probably rusted away, or it froze and pushed it out. If you zoom the last image you can see the edge of the cap.

    Free Vacs for SS only?

I was about to reply that I'd only do it if a tunnel with free vacs opened across the street, but then I realized, why? Let the freeloaders abuse the tunnel's vacs. I used to run a wash where an EE with free vacs opened down the street, and it decimated our vac income, but I just kept...
