    Crytopay card reader placement

In the early days of credit card acceptance (pre CryptoPay), I mounted the similar-sized ‘OneCard‘ swipers on 1/4” aluminum plate and secured them to the wall next to the meter box. I drilled through the side of the meter box (into the brick) to run the swiper’s cable. FastSigns made Lexan...

So, JMMUSTANG... where is your car wash, exactly? :ROFLMAO:

improving the Wash Bay at my shop

From my experience, your changeover time is primarily due to the 80 feet of 1/2” hose. There’s nearly a gallon of soapy water in an 80 ft length of ½” hose. 3/8” is more commonly used in the car wash industry. That same 80 ft of 3/8” hose/tubing? Less than ½ gallon. Another issue is the age and...

    Air compressor

Indeed! An old friend has a 40something year old compressor in his auto repair shop. I suspect it runs at 400-500 rpm...he installed a huge flywheel on the pump and a tiny motor pulley shortly after he opened...in 1974! I visited 3 weeks ago and it's still "thumping" away!

    Air compressor

It's either Quincy or don't call me when your value-priced compressor quits working.;) I've had it with the Big Box units...broken motor shafts, failed starting switches, melted caps, lousy pressure switches. The danged things run too fast and can't handle the duty cycle of a busy operation...

What do car wash service companies charge?

The physician-owned car wash needed significant repairs. After receiving my quotation, he said, “Wow, I’m a doctor and I don’t make as much as you charge!” I replied, “Yeah, I didn’t make that much money when I was a doctor, either.”😂

    Cat 310 Valves

Remove the cage, spring, and poppet. Then, stick a 16p nail head through the open valve body, catch the edge of the nail head under the body and pull up on the nail with a pair of sturdy pliers.

    Tech support

The problem I have is with the control systems I built. Trying to be my own tech support is tough when I can't even remember how the danged things worked to begin with! :ROFLMAO:

    IDK MA-800

FWIW... I've installed nothing but MicroCoin acceptors since they were first introduced to the US market. I sold my busy 8-bay four years ago...there are 3 of the original MicroCoin S5 acceptors still in use there today! What's that...21 years??? (your mileage may vary)

    Pump Pulsating

#1 possibility...Boom swivel seal may be leaking when not under pressure. Sometimes the swivel's seal relaxes when the bay is idle. This allows air to enter the bay hose. Turning on the pump pushes the air out and causes the whoosh and sputter.

    Foam brush problems

Wow, a real "blast from the past", 2Biz! That really brings back some memories. ;) Rtharlan, The air blowout system uses a Programmable Logic Relay to inject windshield washer fluid/antifreeze into the exposed Foam Brush or Foam Gun after each use (in freezing weather). It eliminates the need...

Husky vs Harbor Freight small compressor comparison

I purchased one of those Husky compressors about 4 years ago to replace a 15 year old Sanborn “peeper”. (FYI: Peeper is what you call an engine block/crankcase with a broken connecting rod “peeping” out… AKA: Boat Anchor!) I followed the break-in rules, torqued a few fasteners to stop a couple...

Buying Touchless Wash and need advice

I would suggest a visit to Hydrospray's facility in Clearfield, PA. to tour their fabrication and assembly operation. Do they have inventory? Or, do they have to build your replacement components? When HS (Don R. Havens Co.) was in Cedar Falls, Iowa, one could go to the factory and pick up a...

    Building an anti freeze/air blowdown

Oh... You replied as I was typing. I used the system for my 8-bay...so, 2 Base Modules and 4 Expansion modules! The FL1F has more I/O so, I'll have to play with adding more bays. BTW, the program features User Adjustability which is probably not needed. Since the default timing works in CO...

    Building an anti freeze/air blowdown

Greg Pack, I found it! It needs a bit of modification to take advantage of the newer FL1F's features...but it'll work as-is. A 4-bay foam brush system needs (1) Idec Base Module and (2) expansion modules. Approximately $325.00. Additional components include an enclosure, a 120VAC SPDT relay...

    Building an anti freeze/air blowdown

Greg Pack... I'll have to search my archives for the program. I believe I wrote it in 2010 or 2011. If I can find it, you'll need the $79.00 working copy of Idec's WindLGC programming software to transfer the program to the SmartRelay. Understand, I've been out of the "bidness" for a while and...

    Building an anti freeze/air blowdown

I built a system for foam brush and presoak guns several hundred years ago. It’s been quite effective at preventing freeze ups at temps well below zero. I contemplated using the same system for the high pressure guns. It will work as long as spot free rinse doesn’t use a shared repressurization...

    Where to get metal troughs

Use a local sheet metal company to produce 10' lengths from sheets of 20g galvanized sheet metal...with little-to-no waste. The dimensions are 9" x 6" with a 1" return on the 6" side. This provides an L shaped finished product. 2 pieces make up a 10" trough... Lay the L on the long dimension...
