    Uh, oh!

While tinkering at my workbench yesterday morning, I couldn’t help but notice on the surveillance monitor, a car entering bay 5. The female operator spends several moments looking at the meter box and signage. I continued to watch as she deposited several coins. Rejected…every time. “Uh...

    Vacuum timers...?

IVS with mechanical coin acceptors used the IDX AT411E (IIRC). Easy changeout...just make sure to turn the power off beforehand.

    Dollar Coin Bank - Advice...

I doubt if signs, catching, etc. will ever be effective. While I don’t have a serious “change only” issue, my location is near a Light Rail station. Their kiosks accept and dispense $1coins for overpayments. With credit card sales continually on the rise, my annual “walkoff” of $1coins is...

    Pressure tips ??? pressure problems

I believe you misread my post...I didn't say I use 40.deg nozzles. I simply stated the width of the spray pattern for the various tip sizes. I prefer and use 25deg. I agree 100% and suspect both of our customer's impressions are positive. No "Blast" felt on my side of the keyboard. :)

Earl, Were your Hikvision systems DIY or pro project? Can you share the price and source? This looks like a pretty sweet package: http://www.costco.com/Q-See-16-Channel-HD-IP-NVR-with-3TB-HDD%2c-8-4MP-Cameras-with-100'-Night-Vision.product.100213199.html It appears to be a Dahua Technology...

    Pressure tips ??? pressure problems

I suggest volume vs. pressure. #5 tip flows approximately 2.6 gpm @ 1100 psi. Your complaints will be quieted if you use #6 tips at 1,200 psi. (3.2 gpm) If you have 5 hp motors you'll be praised by increasing the flow to 3.8 gpm with #7 tips at 1,200 psi. (You weak wristed customers MIGHT...

    Cat pump seal replacement

Oil seals cannot be replaced from the "wet end". You're gonna have to disassemble the entire drive end. That said...what are the symptoms? Oil dripping? Crankcase filling with water? Oil looks like chocolate milk?

    Pressure gauge

The glycerin filled gauges I’ve used have a sticker stating something like “snip the tip” of the rubber cap before putting into service. Some gauges have a plastic lever on the rubber cap that’s supposed to be flipped “open” after installation. Could that be the problem?

That’s not true. However, I have been known to pretend…but, just for ceremonial purposes. Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

    Foam Brush Pump

Air-powered pumps are expected to have dry air supply. The beverage industry feeds them with CO2. Obviously, this is not a solution for the car wash industry. Most of the failures I’ve seen are due to water and oil contamination of the air motor. Yamada is known for early death due to...

    Super Bay Set up

Your “Super” bays are delivering 2.8 gpm at 2,000 psi. Try running #7 tips at 1,200-1,300 psi. The additional 1 gpm will wear you out in relatively short order but, your customers will get a better, and safer wash. Customers perceive higher volume as high pressure. I frequently hear “You’ve...

    Bonus / Grace Time

2Biz, You only need to add 5 function blocks to each bay's circuit to do that "Thursday or late night special" thing. (Retentive On-Delay, Memory Marker, an Up/Down counter, an Edge-Triggered Interval Time Delay, and another Q.) But, you're gonna need to add the bill acceptors to the meter...

    Bonus / Grace Time

One technique would use a Programmable Logic Relay (PLR). Bill acceptors utilize pulses to trigger the timing device…4 pulses per dollar. These pulses are typically 10ms On, 10ms Off. Therefore, a $5 bill will deliver 20 pulses in 4 seconds…faster than the user can insert 5 $1 bills. The PLR...
